(Bloomberg) — US President Donald Trump said he does not expect any moves to put guardrails around artificial intelligence during his summit with Chinese President Xi Jinping.

“A big day with President Xi of China. Super Intelligence (SI) will be a big topic of discussion, but I want to leave it exactly where it is. That is China’s position also,” Trump posted on his social media platform.
“Our guardrail is the DOJ!” he said, referring to the US Department of Justice.
International anxiety is rising about AI, with world leaders and AI labs warning that the technology could pose a danger to humanity if not developed safely.
In a speech before the United Nations this week, Trump dismissed calls for an international agreement to put guardrails around the development of AI. Trump said that existing institutions will be able to mitigate any risks.
