Posted on by Hichame

LOS ANGELES (KABC) — A San Gabriel Valley tech CEO is facing federal charges after prosecutors accused him of smuggling sensitive American artificial intelligence technology to China.

Federal prosecutors allege that 38-year-old San Gabriel resident Greg Lui, also known as Yiu Kong Lui, worked with co-conspirators between 2023 and 2024 to funnel more than $300 million worth of AI technology to China through his company, Earthmade Computer Inc., a City of Industry-based technology company.

Lui is accused of falsifying paperwork and redirecting deliveries through third-party countries while knowing that the final destination was China.

Lui was charged in a three-count indictment with conspiracy to violate the Export Control Reform Act and Export Administration Regulations, outbound smuggling and conspiracy to commit money laundering.

If convicted, Lui faces up to 30 years in prison.
